Currently I am a stay at home mom, but I spent many years as a pediatric Occupational Therapist both in Early Intervention and school settings. My first thought when I saw the Toybox Treatment kit was that I wish that I would have had one years ago. As a school therapist, the Toybox gathers the tools necessary to work with children one on one and educate others on how they can continue therapeutic activities when you are not there. It saves time, energy, money, and space by providing everything you need in one portable and organized container. The tools are motivating and engaging for children. My children can't get enough of them! I whole-heartedly recommend the Toybox Treatments for any Occupational Therapist working with school aged children.

Not only have I appreciated the Toybox for being compact and sturdy, but especially for its versatility. I have worked in multiple special education settings: in Weber County School District (alternative kindergarten), Uintah School District (including Headstart for Handicapped), Utah Schools for Visual & Hearing Impaired (Outreach Program), and within Duchesne County School District (Con Amore, ESY, Early Childhood: Rookies Ready to Learn, and several years of Pre-K Summer School at EES) and can see how valuable this Toybox would have been had you patented it then! It has been great to reinforce various occupational therapy/ fine motor manipulation, refining grasps, etc. It lends itself so easily for integrating the Common Core Standards academically within our small group times (Resource) sorting/classification, touch counting left to right orientation, duplicating and repeating aloud ADA, ABC, ABBA, patterns, counting by 2's and 5's, showing sets for simple addition/subtraction story problems, etc.
I have used it during our school wide kindergarten reading intervention times also: students using the colorful clear discs with metal rims to cover (yet still be able to read) their CVC words for word BINGO (They love to clean-up their page with the wave of the 'Magic Wand', and sliding objects along printed words as they are whisper blending/reading aloud. IT is great for our students with various sensory needs! I have shared it with my daughter in South Dakota for my grandson who was hospitalized at a Children's Specialty Clinic for a couple months last year while she needed something novel and stimulating to motivate him with his pre K skills. (His various Therapists were very impressed with it's portability)! As you know, we help to follow-through with the Speech/language Pathologists IEP goals so naturally the Toybox has been fantastic to reinforce skills such as students using the colorful magnets on side of file cabinets or individual magnetic whiteboards to demonstrate following directions and showing their understanding of prepositions as well as placing other fun objects from the Toybox in /under/over/beside/through! It has been so nice to have such an organized kit readily available throughout the school day. Yes, in this day of increased technology we are using more computers and ipads, but the Toybox has been refreshing for more hands-on use to keep the students highly engaged. The Toybox's have been one of our best investments!

-We have had some students come to us who could not even grip a pencil properly. They were so far behind and after working with the Toybox they are now writing as well as anyone, and have been released from Occupational Therapy. I don't think they would be as far along as they are without the use of the Toybox. We have some students that have sensory issues and being allowed to rub certain textures or squeezing certain things included in the Toybox really helps them do better on a day to day basis. Our Speech and Hearing Department have incorporated it into their time with their students. They can be working with things inside the Toybox as they are saying the correct letter sounds. Or they can use it as a reward for working hard. The students all love the Toybox even if they do not have a reason for using it. It is a real treat to most of the kids. The best thing of all is they don't realize they are working they just feel it's a great opportunity to play with something fun. I have a two year old grandson that loves to do all the different things in the Toybox. He's kind of young for some of the things, but he sure gives it a good try, loving every minute of it. He cries when we have to put it away. That is how most kids feel about it. But we don't consider it a toy, just very helpful things that students can do to help them with their fine and large motor skills. We have one little boy with temper issues. He has a squeeze ball from the box, when he feels himself getting upset he can squeeze this ball to relieve the tension of being upset. It has helped him immensely. I could go on and on, but in conclusion, we love the Toybox and feel that it really benefits our students and we can't imagine where they would be without it. Our principal keeps a Toybox in her office and uses it when she gets students that she has to deal with. The Regular Ed. teachers as well as the Special Ed teachers really value having it in our schools.
